Ultra Yarns Private Limited is establishing a technology-enabled weaving facility to manufacture griege (unfinished) cloth using high-speed, double-width waterjet looms integrated with automation and AI-based monitoring across yarn feed, loom operation, and fabric inspection. This addresses a key gap in India's weaving sector — particularly in clusters like Surat — where reliance on manual monitoring and older looms leads to inconsistent quality, high downtime, wastage, and difficulty scaling to meet export-grade demand amid persistent skilled-labour shortages. The facility combines double-width waterjet machines, which produce wider fabric per pick and improve yield while lowering per-metre cost, with AI systems for real-time defect detection, predictive maintenance, and automated production analytics, reducing dependence on manual supervision and improving consistency. This application of AI-driven quality control and predictive maintenance to griege cloth weaving remains uncommon in India relative to global competitors, and the double-width configuration boosts output per machine-hour and cuts conversion costs, while data-driven production management creates a scalable, replicable factory model extendable to additional units with minimal incremental technology cost; the model is modular, allowing additional waterjet machines to be added to the same automation and AI backbone without proportionate increases in supervisory manpower, and the loom-agnostic technology stack can extend to future units or be licensed to other weaving units in the cluster. Revenue will come from the sale of griege cloth to processing houses, garment manufacturers, and export houses, targeting both domestic and export-oriented fabric processors, with higher throughput and lower defect rates expected to improve margins over conventional weaving units. While automation reduces low-skill manual roles, the venture will generate employment in machine operation, technical maintenance, AI/data systems management, quality engineering, and factory administration, shifting the workforce toward higher-skill, better-paid roles.
