In their own words
The startup is solving the ever-increasing problem of end of life scrap/waste tires. As the number of vehicles are burgeoning, both in on-road and off-road applications, so much more will be the number of used tires. These tires are made to last, highly durable and non-bio-degradable. Also, if left just like that, then there is possibility of fire hazard as, tire-fires are very hard to control once begun. One of the method of controlling this menace is tire-retreading and the other one is rubber-reclaim. Tire retreading just leads to postponing the problem, as the tire will surely be discarded after wearing out and becoming unfit for retreading. Also, similar is the story of rubber reclaim. As like any other recycled polymer material, reclaim rubber becomes unusable after a few cycles and will be dumped soon. Thus there is need for another viable a safe commercial technology for tackling the problem of waste tires and waste rubber materials. Such a solution should transform the waste into usable products with long term strategy in sight. Few more hazards apart from fire posed by open stack of waste tires are, mosquito-germination, leachate into ground water, undue space occupation, spoiling of the landscape etc. Fuel Shortage is a very pressing problem quite prominent in India. Which leads to huge imports of the same and thus draining our economy-valuation by the deficit in foreign exchange and other related factors. Our startup will definitely do its bit in lowering this burden in proportion to its implementation by producing high value fuel-oil domestically in India. The need is to have nonpolluting, zero-effluent generating, and clean processes - for such waste management solutions to be regarded as wholesome and sustainable. Otherwise in our efforts to deal with one problem we will end up precipitating new problems. The proper technological solution to this issue is to transform the waste into products which are raw materials for other industries. We propose “Safe Continuous Tire pyrolysis” system. Pyrolysis is a proven technology for handling such wastes. Thus we propose to solve the issue with environmentally safe and SOP compliant systems for handling of tire waste. The process of pyrolysis is basically an anaerobic thermal disintegration of any material. In case of tire the adaptation of pyrolysis leads to production of industrial grade fuel pyro-oil, CNG equivalent pyro-gas, pet-coke alternative pyro-carbon char/powder and scrap steel. With proper improved adaption of SOP compliant and environmentally safe technology, the system does not generate any effluent. Leading to a very sound and robust method of tire waste processing. All the output streams of products thus produced are commercially viable and economical when compared with industrial standards. Since this is truly first of its kind of high level of innovation and engineering in this field, the potential is simply huge. As far as the market is concerned, pyrolysis segment has already proven its need and commercial viability to process tire waste and generate high value products. The popular but completely unsafe and ‘environmentally-unsound’ Batch Processing technology is on the verge of its extinction. Central Pollution Control Board has already issued notification for the closure of batch plants and is only encouraging Continuous Pyrolysis Plants. Batch pyrolysis plants are officially recognized to be very unsafe and highly polluting. On the other hand Continuous Plants are recognized to be versatile, robust, scientific, free from the problems of batch plants, safe and environmental friendly. There were more than 600 batch units officially known to be running across India. Which comes to the about processing capacity of 6000 MT of waste tires per day. That shows the commercial footprint of the market share already exploited. Now all state pollution control boards (SPCBs) are not issuing new licenses to any batch plants. Only Continuous Pyrolysis plants are being issued licenses. Thus, as the batch pyrolysis plants are coming to a grinding halt, the same avenue is getting opened up for the advanced generation of only Continuous Pyrolysis Plants.
