Benchmark aims to utilize a data analytics-focussed approach to revolutionize engineering education with a platform for the entire ecosystem, which includes students, teachers, institutions and industry. Currently, the product has been launched for engineering students in Kerala in the form of a mobile application. The platform combines traditional teaching systems with an easy-to-understand, visualized knowledge-building approach. With the use of advanced data analytics, the data obtained from the learning platform can then be used to solve other existing problems in the ecosystem, like lack of employability among graduates. With over 30 lakh students presently studying engineering courses in India alone, the market for such a product is huge. If the AICTE’s proposal for a common syllabus for engineering is implemented, it will mean that the same learning material will be used by all engineering students studying in India. Also unlike the K-12 segment, the competition in this segment is negligible. Presently, the product looks to generate revenue using a subscription model, selling to colleges as well as students directly. Even if a small percentage of the market can be captured, there will exist enormous opportunities for both growth and revenue. As the product expands into new horizontals within the segment, potential revenue sources and thereby, potential for revenue increases dramatically. Also, as the company grows, it will lead to an increase in employment generation opportunities not just within the company, but also among engineering graduates which has been factored into the business model.
