History: WAAM Technologies is a startup company at “Atal Incubation Center”Nitte,cofounded by two researchers Dr.Muralidhara and Dr.VijeeshVijayan who have expertise in the area of Robotics, Automation, Microactuation systems, welding, and metallurgy. The cofounders of the startup have several research publications and patents in the area of their expertise. They also won several awards in the International Machine Tool Exhibition “IMTEX” which is organized by Indian Machine Tool Manufacturer’s Association (IMTMA) annually. The cofounders have recently developed a “Band Saw Welding Machine” which made a local wood saw mill owner self-reliant in welding the broken band saw blades using the new machine developed. The cofounders have also developed a “2-Axis TIG Welding robot with synchronized pulsating wire feeder for aluminium welding” for a e-bicycle manufacturer for welding aluminium bicycle frames. Products and Services offered: WAAM Technologies mainly focuses on development, sales and services related to the following three products: 1. Band Saw welding Equipment: WAAM Technologies is committed to provide economical and reliable band saw welding solution to the local wood industries to make them self-reliant in welding broken band saw blades. The equipment has four stages namely: 1) Cutting, 2) Welding, 3) Grinding and 4) Heat Treatment in servicing a broken band saw blades. 2. e-Bicycle Aluminium frame welding equipment and its heat treatment unit:WAAm Technologies would develop the process and the equipment for manufacturing of aluminium e-Bicycle frames. There are three critical processes that are to be precisely controlled for production of good quality aluminium e-Bicycle frames. They are: 1). Automated Aluminum e-Bicycle Frame welding with controlled welding parameters; 2) Heat Treatment unit for welded aluminium e-Bicycle frames to ensure proper strength and to be free from residual stresses; and 3) e-Bicycle aluminium frame testing facility to ensure the required rigidity, strength and fatigue life. 3. Desktop CNC Milling/turning Machine: WAAM Technologies would develop economical and reliable desktop milling/turning CNC machines for the wood industries, Art work Designers and Engineering Institutes. Several functionalities would be provided with the CNC machines like; 1). Metal Cutting; 2) Wood Cutting/engraving; 3) Laser Engraving; 4). Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing; 5).
