The WAMH Foundation was established by Shivya Gupta, in order to provide people an opportunity to be part of a community and have a support system. WAMH, which stands for We're All MAD Here - Making A Difference, is a community driven mental health initiative where people unite over and learn from shared experiences. We all need to feel supported, particularly during difficult times. Some of us might get that support from our family & friends, but sometimes they cannot quite understand what it is like to be in our situation. Connecting with on-going people – People who are living with it, through a support group helps fill the void. Hence, at WAMH we conduct topic-specific, clinically curated support groups centred around simple everyday issues that we experience. We do so by bringing together what we consider the main pillars of our support ecosystem, namely, mental health professionals, volunteers and the participants themselves. Recognising the ability and influence each of these stakeholders holds to transform lives, WAMH, has designed a unique, therapist-led, four-session model that enables the participants to navigate through their emotions and cope with their stresses in a safe and non-judgmental space. Determined to make authentic and non-judgemental mental health support accessible to people pan India, we strive to capitalise on the best resources and effectively harness the power of shared experiences to reach people wherever support is most required. Moreover, we have effectively created a digitalised community which supports its members to self-manage their care with the collaboration and guidance of clinicians, caregivers and peers. We believe that there is great power in hearing and being heard. By creating a community in which, individuals are likely to understand and support each other, at WAMH, we wish to instil a feeling of “We’re Not Alone” amongst all our community members.
