Wanya LifeSciences Pvt Ltd, is a onco-immunology R&D based startup focussed on developing and commercialising clinically validated, cutting edge, but cost effective healthcare solutions to cancer patients and geriatrics in the country and. The company combines targeted nutrition with immuno-oncology therapies to deliver on the promise. The founders, Mr. Vinay Konaje and Dr. Rajyashri KR are serial lifesciences entrepreneurs who have founded successful bootstrapped biotech companies earlier (Navya Biologicals Pvt Ltd and later Shilpa Biologicals Pvt Ltd), scaled them from 3 people to 400 staff that combined R&D with manufacturing of biologics (Monoclonal antibodies, fusion proteins, recombinant human Albumin) in Dharwad, Karnataka before starting on Wanya LifeSciences Pvt Ltd, on account of personal trysts with cancers and geriatric health issues in their respective families. Navya Biologicals Pvt was also recognised as amongst India's most innovative biotech companies by the Dept of Biotech and the company also was part of the PM's Indo-US Startup Konnect delegation in 2015. Wanya LifeSciences will be focussing on developing (a) Clinically validated targeted nutrition for oncology & geriatrics (they have significant overlaps) (b) Cutting edge NK cell therapies and Bispecific Antibodies that are targeted at ageing and cancers (again inter-related) via modulation of the immune system. The business model will be a mix of internal development, partnering with like minded companies and acquisitions. The company is currently bootstrapped with the founders bringing in the funding required for the first 4 years. The company intends to raise PE funds once its molecules are in Human clinical trials.
