India is the richest country in the world in livestock wealth. They have a greater role to play in rural agrarian economy to provide gainful employment and income to a large number of rural poor especially socially backward, marginal farmers and landless labourers. The commercialization of livestock is on the rise as a result of market developments and fiscal incentives, and an increasing demand for animal protein in the consumer market. On the demand side, with a rapid increase in the urbanization, income levels and change in lifestyle, market for scientifically produced and hygienically packed meat and meat products are expanding rapidly, while on the supply side a gradual shift is occurring towards intensively managed livestock production systems. Indian livestock market is highly unorganized and largely unregulated, having remained a low priority sector. Looking into the increasing in demand for livestock and their products both in domestic and foreign market, the Government of India has been offering incentives to boost investment, modernization, value addition and infrastructure development from the Eleventh Five Year Plan. As the market is marked by mobility and exchange traditionally, e-trading found to be suitable for the sector.
