Challenges with Farming in India: A. People of rural India from farming background are migrating to metros as unskilled labours and living miserable life in shanties, far from their families, without basic amenities and open air. B. Impact of climate change and dense urban growth is reducing farming lands however; farm food demand is rapidly increasing. C. Farm products are Cold-stored, chemically processed and made to travel for months before consumption, which is affecting the health with degraded Nutrition. D. By 2050, there will be a 70% more demand of food production with a very lesser land to cultivate. About Zenofarm: Zenofarm is committed to bring the social mojo back to India’s rural lives, by productising an assured earning scheme for them through modern-day farming. The initiative will not only help the rural youths not to leave their locality/family for pity earning as labours in metros, but also ensure that the local consumers are getting access to healthy, organic and nutrient farm food. Methodology: : A. Engage the “unemployed youths of sub-urban and rural India owning some unused land” through an assured revenue and incentive model( Farm Associates) while utilize their unused land for farming using precision technologies without impacting the existing cultivation and harvesting process or using fertile land actively used for agriculture by local farmers. B. Create a Farm Zone at each block-level, accommodating nearly 200 Farm Associates. The Farm zones shall house the farm experts, monitoring team and farm support team. It will also supply all raw materials / infra materials / seedling / consumables to associated farms. It will be the knowledge centre and support centre for all farm associates. The experts shall drive the farming activities whereas the associates have to contribute on day-to-day physical activities of the farm. C. Use the IoT technology to collect the NPK (Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium), pH, Humidity, temperature and hydration parameters along with weather forecast for real-time basis for decision making for each farm at a central command and control centre. D. Create an Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML) based predictive engine for yield, price, demand and impact prediction, which shall ensure a predictable return of each associated land and hence enable a robust supply-chain. E. Create a local supply-chain for farm yields ensuring farm-to-plate within 48Hrs driven by AI/ML based predictability, ensuring organic and nutrient food for local households. Target the local market for consumption with retail provisioning for local youths engaged as farm associates. F. Use the know-how on best farming techniques like Precision Farming, Vertical farming, greenhouse farming, Hydroponics, integrated farming, container farming, etc for 100% organic yield with zero waste in collaboration with Top agro-technological institutes of India and generate source of employment for the Institute’s graduates. G. Other than horticulture, focus on Poultry/aquaculture/flower /Diary /Composting/etc based on location, climate, and availability of resources like water, electricity. etc. Target: By 2023, become a source of employment for 5,000 youths though farming whereas harvest organic farm products in 100 Hectors of unused Land across India.
