India disposes at least 5 BILLION single use takeaway disposable containers every year. It is estimated to be at least 120 BILLION in next few years! Single use takeaway disposable containers pose serious risk to consumer's health, our ecosystem, lives of millions of birds and animals. Compostable or bio-degradable single use disposable containers still promote 'use & throw' habit and hence are not sustainable at such HUGE scale which is increasing at staggering pace. Contrary to popular belief, they decompose or bio-degrade in a controlled (mostly commercial setups) environment only otherwise they too pollute our ecosystem. zerOware is an initiative to elevate our society from 'use & throw' to 'reduce & reuse'. Our vision is to eliminate use of single use takeaway disposable containers from food deliveries. Spreading awareness about these hazards, collaborating with restaurants & meal service providers and making people part of this movement are pillars of our mission. In just 12 months, we are very glad to avert usage of almost 11000 plastic containers and 6000 paper containers by serving almost 400 customers and 2100 orders.
