Most existing online dating apps have a key starting point, a swipe. Swiping on a profile in a particular direction is the indicator of whether you like the ‘profile’. Typically, the swipe card has your photo, age, and a 3-word description of the person. What that does is gamifies your interaction on the app, based on a just a visual representation of the the profile. Not only does that encourage recklessness, but also makes the entire dating process non-serious. We at Meet7 believe that a swipe is not the right way of finding a romantic partner. Which is why we have focused on the interaction between the people on the platform. A key feature of that is no swiping to find matches. While a swipe match can give you an ego boost/ dopamine hit, it doesn’t really help further interactions. Because of the typical gender skew and gendered bias in swiping, a lot of swipes result in too few matches for men, while for women every swipe is a match. Instead, we aim to give no-swipe matches for users on our platform. This is based on the MBTI type personality indicator, which we are calling CompQ (compatibility quotient). Along with matching dating personas, our algorithm also looks at past interactions with matches to filter out/ make the matches more and more relevant as more and more interactions happen. Our matches are entirely based on the actions taken by the user, and hence have no external bias. The no-swipe matches make the users journey very different from a typical journey on other dating platforms. There is no time wasted in discovery, the entire discovery process is focused on interacting with the matches rather than pointlessly swiping, making Meet7 a very focused app to use. CompQ, our dating personality indicator is a very good way of not only understanding the match’s behavior during the interaction, but also of how you typically behave in a relationship. This makes the conversations contextual, while also keeping the mystery of interacting with a new person intact.
