Government has taken the initiative to carry out e-assessments in Income Tax since last few years. Going forward, majority work shall be carried out through electronic mode without physical presence of assessee or tax consultant. In absence of opportunity to physically present the case before the officials, it becomes important to respond with an accurate and clear-cut reply to notices, otherwise it may lead to unwarranted and large additions to total income. Opportunity to explain the matter personally is not available in e-assessment mode, hence even the slightest error in drafting may lead to confusion in the mind of the reader. Assessees as well as tax consultants are already burdened with lot of compliance work, leading to time constraint in allotting quality time to draft submissions.
