Biome Laboratories is a biotechnology start-up leading microbiome innovation. We aim to develop pioneering topical probiotic ingredients that can be used by pharmaceutical & beauty companies. Our innovations will help build skincare products that are high-quality, more effective & safe for sensitive skin. The ingredients will be patented & then commercialised for use within India & supplied B2B. The skin microbiota is now definitively known as a healthy skin guardian. It acts as a first skin protective barrier involving a natural equilibrium between beneficial & detrimental microorganisms. In healthy skin, this balance limits the growth of detrimental bacteria which leads to disrupted skin barrier & result in dull, dry & irritated skin. Given our founder’s expertise - Bachelors of Arts in Biology from ivy-league University of Pennsylvania, USA where she focussed on microbiology followed by a Masters in cosmetic formulation from ISIPCA in France. Using her knowledge of biotechnology, biochemistry & microbiology, she is focussing on creating microbiome friendly ingredients for the beauty & personal care industry. We develop new ingredients for cosmetic formulation using lactobacillus ferments & staphylococcus ferments from Indian probiotic foods such as Dahi & Kanji. These ferments allow us to create skin barrier strengthening & healthy skin products that are not currently in the market which are patent worthy ingredients & can put India on the map for topical probiotics as well. This innovation will facilitate the improvement in efficacy of cosmetic products & skincare pharmaceutical products. Biome laboratories has huge potential for scaling since we aspire to set up R&D laboratories with manufacturing for these cosmetic raw materials. Our ambition allows us to for see over 500 employees & a revenue of over 100 crores in the next 5 years. The innovation of these ingredients is being done hand in hand with India based contract research organisations & manufacturers.
