Vision Codex Solutions Private Limited was incorporated in 2016. With objectives of improving affordability, quality, and accessibility of Healthcare. Codex wants to become a major player in the manufacturing and distribution of medical devices. We are focusing on innovation and development of disposables and equipment which use compression technology for diagnosis, treatment or prevention of various medical conditions. Preference has been given to equipment used in intensive care units. Considering expansion plans, we have registered our trademark ‘KOLENO’ which we intend to grow nationally and internationally. Codex has tied up with two practicing doctors and with two major hospitals for product development and validation. In the next three years, we would employ 150 unskilled, semi-skilled workers in manufacturing and distribution activities. What is DVT? Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is a condition where if a blood clot is formed in veins, generally in the lower section of legs. If that clot breaks off, travels to lungs, causing a blockage (Pulmonary Embolism), could result in the death of a patient. This condition is observed in patients after hospitalization. It is the most easily avoidable cause of death in the hospital. There are Mechanical and Pharmacological methods of DVT prevention, mechanical being preferred by doctors for various factors associated with pharmacological methods such as the increased risk of platelet depletion, renal impairment, intracranial hemorrhage, preference to non-invasive treatments over invasive. KOLENO DVT Prophylaxis Pump Technology DVT pumps intermittently pump compressed air in DVT sleeves, which are applied on a patient’s leg. This stimulates blood flow and prevents the formation of blood clots. DVT sleeves are made from a special foam laminated Nylon fabric. It contains a PVC bladder which gets filled with compressed air. We are manufacturing these in our plant since October 2018 in Pune. 100% of raw material is being sourced from India. KOLENO DVT Prophylaxis Pump Market Indian DVT prevention market is dominated by GCS due to unaffordability of IPC and SCD. There are three multinationals who are 100% importers. Patients end up paying INR 7000 to 10000/- for DVT prevention. This exorbitant pricing has become prohibitive for non affording patients, which further results in the patient’s compromised medical safety. India has more than 7 Lac DVT (prescribed) patients annually, which is expected to double in the next 5 years. Codex wants to provide ‘Made In India’, CE and ISO certified world-class product, by which patients could avail effective DVT prevention at INR 2500. Proof of Concept has been successful in Pune, where our product has more than 60% market share.
