The project is to develop a wheeled mobile robot that can navigate in a dynamic indoor environment. The proposed mobile robot will have a microphone, speakers, pan tilt camera and display screen for audio and visual communication. Algorithms for environment mapping, navigation and obstacle avoidance will be developed using LIDAR, inertial measurement unit and wheel encoders for autonomous navigation. An authorized user from any remote location can control this robot and camera’s field of vision through any communicating device over IoT and make his virtual presence. User applications for telecontrol and presence will be developed for the communication device. The user can choose between autonomous mode or guided mode control for navigation. The real-time environment can be viewed by the user on his device display through the pan tilt camera of the mobile robot.
