DPIIT recognised District Waste Management

In their own words

“The East Corridor Consultants (TECC)”, is a start-up, working on sustainable solutions across various platforms and offering innovative solutions to make a substantial impact on society and mother Earth. TECC believes in ‘3R’ strategy of waste management i.e., Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. TECC would like to create a positive holistic impact on the environment by producing range of products with agricultural wastes e.g. paddy straw (parali), sugarcane bagasse, banana stem etc. Keeping the sustainability aspect as core of our all endeavors, we have decided to undertake few projects in India to provide bio-based eco-friendly solutions to certain key and persisting environmental issues affecting severely the entire ecosystem and human life. Increasing air and marine pollution due to stubble burning and imprudent use of plastics in our daily life is one of them. Every year, the Gangetic plains of India experiences abnormal rise in the pollution level after the harvesting seasons and this eventually leads to many environmental hazards including significant increase in the level of toxic gases in the air, lowering of ground water level, global warming to name a few. Another growing concern for our environment is increase in use of plastics in our everyday lifestyle. According to a study conducted by Gayet et.al (2017) on Global plastic waste generation by industrial sector, Packaging industry contributes majority of the plastic wastes. Our first project has been conceptualized to address both of the above-mentioned global issues by converting agricultural waste or stubble such as paddy straw, wheat straw and sugarcane straw to a biodegradable, sustainable, eco-friendly and most importantly chemical free packaging materials such as trays, punnets, cup holders etc. By this project, not only we would be empowering millions of farmers by providing them an alternative source of income from their agricultural wastes but also help reducing the instances of stubble burning and offer an alternative to plastics to be used in the packaging industry. Apart from these direct benefits, our project will also have other economic and social benefits which we have highlighted in the attached presentation. A brief business case of the above project is attached with this mail for your review and understanding. Not only this, we have also initiated discussions with the Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) for procurement of raw materials i.e. paddy, wheat and sugarcane residues from individual farmers and transport them to our designated warehouses. On the sales side, initial talks with the major buyers in European and US markets have been concluded and they are very excited about it. We have identified several technology supplier to support our vision but pilot scale trial runs needs to be done as we have very limited data on paddy straw mix. In this regard, we need your funding and mentorship. Now, we are in a stage where we require funds to close the technology trials and infrastructure development for raw material procurement.
