Grassroots App Grassroots App is a platform aimed at transforming the world of volunteering. It aims to reimagine volunteering, mobilise change-makers and redesign NGOs, The target customers who would be using and benefiting from Grassroots web and mobile app would be 1) NGOs that run on volunteers (short-term and long-term) are looking for a platform to find new volunteers, engage in more meaningful ways with their volunteers and improve effectiveness of overall event life cycle. 2) Potential volunteers who are looking to start their journey as volunteers and change-makers in specific causes. 3) Existing volunteers who are looking to deepen their engagement with one NGO, explore working for different NGOs and further strengthen their journey as change-maker. Here is a brief description of pressing needs of NGOs and volunteers and how the Grassroots App addresses them. For NGOs: NGOs leverage the volunteer base in the Grassroots app to get more volunteers for their single events and for long term engagement. Grassroots will continue to add more and more volunteers to the app through our won outreach programs. Grassroots app is designed to provide features to NGOs that will cover the entire event life cycle and long-term operations and scaling impact - sending notifications to potential volunteers, adding event details & logistics in the app, sending reminders and event location/details to interested volunteers, a chat box option for volunteers and NGO point of contact to interact with each other, capturing event and adding details in the event page, update NGOs volunteer database, sending post-event form to volunteers to get volunteers inputs and also build accountability. Grassroots App allows users to directly donate to the NGO. With wider reach and more users NGOs can get more visibility for funding to happen directly through the App. New potential volunteers: Once a potential volunteer signs into the App, they get access to information and insight into all the causes they could work for, all NGOs working for the cause and all the upcoming events and activities. The App allows potential volunteers to choose their preferences for volunteering including cause, location, time commitment and keeps customising and updating the events and NGOs they see listed in the App. They are also sent customised notifications about events and activities based on their preferences. Once in our network, through mails, social media content and in-person communication, we hope to enable them to start and deepen their journey as volunteers/change-makers. Support would also include quick-to-access chat options with Grassroots team/NGOs, individual reach-out strategies for people who we see are on the App but haven't been active in joining events posted by NGOs and creating an empowering environment nurturing people to act and widen/deepen their impact. Existing volunteers: As volunteers mature, they also would like to to get more immersion into the cause, engage more in different ways, in different NGOs in the chosen cause and also explore possibilities of starting their own mini-events and local grassroot movements on their own. Right now, there are not many platforms with NGOs & volunteers in one common platform to explore this. Grassroots allows existing volunteers to leverage the network to address the needs above. Status: The pilot phase of the App has been live for around 10 months now. Around 6 NGOs, >1000 volunteers have registered on the App in the last 10 months. More than 500 events have been posted through the App. The next updated version is to be launched by the end of November.
