Grubsoul is a Delhi-based Seafood Innovation Start-Up, with its idea that was started in the distant Andaman & Nicobar Islands. We specialize in exotic, value-added, and processed products and services that entail all types of raw and cooked meat products. (www.grubsoul.com) Consumer Relevance - Range of Fresh (Raw), Ready-to-Eat and Freshly Cooked offerings - Omni-channel – integrating online & offline to address Consumer/Customer demand Grubsoul brings unmatched expertise with two founders from the seafood industry for over a decade (with unmatched understanding of Seafood procurement, handling, cold chain, processing etc.) and the third partner with Marketing/Branding expertise for large organizations IMPACT OF GRUBSOUL ON LOCAL ECONOMY & LIVELIHOOD Promoters of Grubsoul had successfully invested (Era Fishery Products) out of Port Blair in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and contributed to the local economy (Direct employment to 30 people and fishermen network of 150 dependents) by starting a processing facility in 2010. It was amongst the first modern facilities that catered to bulk Marine Products for domestic (mainland India) and export markets. Efficiencies and scale achieved in the last 12 years have made it amongst the most trusted ‘brands’ with an order log of top Marine buyers in the country. Backdrop Andaman & Nicobar Islands are the most distant, primitive, and laggard regions of India, that are wholly dependent on Fisheries and Tourism, as the principal source of the local socio-economic sustenance, wellbeing, and employability. Challenge for Fisheries Amongst the largest employment generators and means of livelihood, Fishery industry in the Islands has remained sub-optimally harnessed owing to lack of infrastructure, mechanization, value-addition opportunities, and innovations, to drive higher efficiencies and scale of business. Sheer distance from mainland India, poor infrastructure and access to markets debar investments – this despite the abundance of marine products, quality, and range of exotic products and trained manpower to undertake potentially large projects in Marine Products. Innovative Start-Up’s of Marine Products from Andaman & Nicobar Islands could lead to significant impact for the socio-economic upliftment of the Islands 1. Genesis of Grubsoul Having established a solid reputation for Quality, the promoters who were engaged in local purchase, processing, and bulk supplies by containers, saw a huge market in direct B2C & B2B retail that was latent in urban cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru etc. Pilot testing of exclusive Andaman & Nicobar products in the local markets quickly validated the strong belief in the concept of Grubsoul. Further pilot testing and extremely positive reaction from Customers/Consumers into other dimensions like B2C, Online sales, Retail-Restaurant etc., further enhanced conviction in the Grubsoul idea. It can be the first Consumer ‘brand’ from the Islands. This is transformational for ‘Value-Addition’ (realisation for entire value chain) with further employment opportunities. Grubsoul is born from the most relevant Industry of Andaman & Nicobar, which unfortunately has not found consumer engagement due to various reasons – however with the back-up of other organizations of Promoters (processing & cold storage facilities and existing business contacts) Grubsoul is poised to take innovation, value-addition, and scale to next level, in the otherwise primitive and basic base. Grubsoul also plans to scale up in 5 years to reach more than 75 cities including Metros, Tier 2/3 cities (all non-coastal areas), by establishing a one-stop-shop proposition for high quality seafood & meats at reasonable prices, using an omni approach.
