In their own words

Kala Sangam Cultural Pvt. Ltd. is a cultural initiative based in Agra working at the intersection of art, heritage, community, and contemporary cultural dialogue. Rooted in the belief that culture should be lived and experienced rather than simply consumed, Kala Sangam creates spaces and experiences that encourage deeper engagement with people, places, and practices — especially within the context of Tier-2 cities in India. In its first nine months of operation, Kala Sangam has physically engaged with more than 650+ people through festivals, walks, screenings, workshops, performances, and community-led cultural experiences. These interactions have brought together artists, students, travellers, researchers, local residents, and international visitors. While Agra is globally known through the Taj Mahal and Mughal architecture, Kala Sangam focuses on exploring the city beyond monuments — through its artists, craftspeople, musicians, neighbourhoods, food traditions, and lived histories. The organisation aims to create more intimate and participatory forms of cultural engagement where conversation, collaboration, and community become central to the experience. At the centre of this ecosystem is Kala Kutir, an evolving cultural space near the Taj Mahal that hosts residencies, workshops, film screenings, music gatherings, artist interactions, and community events. Designed as a slower and more open environment, the space functions as both a cultural venue and a living environment where artists, travellers, and practitioners interact through shared experiences.Kala Sangam has also created Kalakar Walks, which explore cities through their artists and creative practices. Experiences such as “Agra Through Its Artists | फ़नकार आगरा के” take participants into the homes and workspaces of artists in old Agra, creating conversations around artistic process, memory, and the changing identity of the city. The organisation is also developing Kala Virasat, a storytelling and cultural documentation initiative exploring heritage through performances, oral histories, films, scripts, and immersive experiences. Alongside this, Kala Sangam has curated projects such as the Agra Arts Festival and is developing Taj ke Saat Rang, a queer arts and cultural initiative exploring identity, belonging, and representation through film screenings, performances, storytelling sessions, and community gatherings.Kala Sangam continuously experiments with intimate and interdisciplinary formats including Kabir mehfils in ancestral homes, food-led storytelling experiences, artist residencies, heritage walks, film discussions, and informal music gatherings. The intention is not simply to organise events, but to create situations where people can meaningfully engage with culture, each other, and the city itself. The organisation is particularly interested in encouraging travellers and international visitors to spend longer periods in cities like Agra through slower, immersive, and community-oriented cultural experiences. Through residencies, long-stay programs, and collaborative gatherings, Kala Sangam hopes to build a different model of cultural tourism rooted in participation and exchange.Looking ahead, Kala Sangam envisions expanding this model into multiple culturally rich Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities across India. An important part of this future vision is the development of an arts and nature village in Agra — a space where artists, travellers, craftspeople, and communities can live, collaborate, and create together through shared cultural and ecological experiences. At its core, Kala Sangam believes culture exists in conversations, music, food, memory, storytelling, and shared spaces. Through its initiatives, the organisation continues to explore how culture can become more participatory, inclusive, and deeply lived.

The neighbourhood

This record carries no locality line, so the district is the finest ring we can place it in.

What we do not know

We have no liveness signal for any company on this site: no filings feed, no revenue, no check that the website still resolves. A record existing here means a record exists, not that a business is trading.

Is this your company?

Everything here comes from public government records. If something is wrong, the authoritative place to correct it is the Startup India portal itself, and we will pick the correction up on the next monthly snapshot.
