Kaushalya Nandanam Private Limited is developing a fully automated, technology-enabled retail self-service laundromat platform to formalize India’s fragmented laundry ecosystem. The first outlet near Auroville and Pondicherry is structured as a pilot proof-of-concept center to validate automation systems, water-efficiency benchmarks, digital payments integration, and unit economics prior to national expansion. Laundry is a universal, recurring domestic necessity that consumes significant time, water, and energy. Despite its ubiquity, India has virtually no organized, independent, walk-in retail self-service laundromat operators in the open urban market. Existing solutions are limited to informal dhobi networks, manpower-intensive services, or institutional laundry rooms within student housing and gated communities. This represents a structural infrastructure gap. The company introduces a fully unattended self-service model featuring: * QR-based UPI-enabled cashless payments * Automated machine activation * IoT-enabled monitoring and preventive maintenance * Centralized digital performance analytics Customers independently operate high-efficiency commercial front-load machines, reducing labor dependency and enabling scalable replication. Water sustainability is a core innovation pillar. Commercial machines use significantly less water per kilogram of laundry compared to domestic machines, informal washing methods, and hand washing. The company will deploy biodegradable detergents with controlled dosing and aims to implement greywater filtration for partial water reuse in future outlets. The long-term vision is to build a scalable, digitally managed, water-efficient national network of retail self-service laundromats across India.
