Many farmers and their family members in my community have dropped agriculture/farming due to various socio-economic reasons. The water scarcity, seasonal calamities, poor yield, high land maintenance cost and high fodder cost were the few key reasons. Though farmers in my community have the abundance of experience in the field of agriculture and farming, farmers live in poverty as they are unable to find the alternative employment opportunity. KIO farm is committed to working along with the local community to provide employment opportunity for local farmers using the sustainable economic model that would maximize the economic benefits while maintaining environmental quality. There is a huge requirement for organic produce (Amla, Turmeric, Moringa and etc) for the international market. This organic produce will be grown locally and formulated into a suitable formulation and sold in the local and international market. Part of revenue will be invested back to develop training needs for local farmers and also develop this model of farming to other local communities. The uniqueness of this startup is that it intends to grow organic produce on the agriculture land that's owned by the local community farmers using the integrated organic farming technique (while providing employment opportunity to local farmers.) The organic produce is brought from the farmer by agreeing to return a reasonable share from the revenue generated. KIO farm leads and manages the whole process from farming, processing, storage and distribution of final organic products.
