Laakood (translation: wood), is a company/ brand based out of Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Its founding members, namely Anvit Rao, Chandresh Rai, Manish Ladhe, Satyam Raut and Vamika Chitravansh are from the field of product and visual communication design. Having come from different backgrounds, different cities and different cultures, what unites all of them is the innate wish to startup our own company and to do something for own homeland, our nation. Having said that, there is one more thing that keeps us together as team, our strive to keep moving forward. Despite facing adversity multiple times, in terms of other failed startups, career choices, amongst many other things, we keep going on. That is probably why we manage to keep our company pulled together despite its multiple layers of function. To understand the essence of the brand, one has to get hold of the expanse of its undertones. Starting right from the design sector of home management, where certain lifestyle products are made to enhance the ease of one's livelihood as well as to add a sense of aesthetic to the surrounding. The brand's future plans entail for them to enter the domain of 'biophilic design', which is a relatively new (but not alien) concept for the people, here in our country. Biophilic design is a concept used within the building industry to increase occupant connectivity to the natural environment through the use of direct nature, indirect nature, and space and place conditions. To put in simple terms, bringing nature closer to people and incorporate it in their surroundings. The research and development has now being going on in Laakood for quite some time to roll out this idea in physical form as soon as possible.
