We want to make the eV charging experience simpler, speedier, and safer for everyday users of 4 wheelers (4W). While DC fast charging is essential for highways, >90% of charging happens on AC charging. We have designed a faster AC charger ideally suited to accelerate eV adoption in India. We will have all essential safety features and include a built-in energy meter. We have built commercial grade chargers that can be used in public places and charged amongst drivers in a parking lot. Most eV drivers cannot tell the difference between a kW (power i.e. speed of charging) and kWhr (energy i.e. battery capacity), all they understand is State of Charge (SoC%). Calculating how much energy and at what power level should go into their battery will cause hurdles to people charging their vehicles and increase range anxiety. We intend to simplify the entire process by just asking them how long they have to wait and charging the car at the maximum speed supported by the OnBoardCharger (OBC). This simplification will provide peace of mind to less technical eV adopters. How we will serve India's objectives: eV adoption is crucial to reduce our crude oil imports which can reduce the nation's fascial deficit. Most AC chargers today are white labelled imports from China. Without indigenous design and manufacture, our shift to eVs would result in subsidizing imports rather than relying on home grown technology. We have taken the spirit of AtmaNirbhar Bharat to heart and worked with numerous suppliers to ensure almost all of our components are indigenously sourced. By providing us Startup support, it will not only serve Leaport Tech but also serve the supply chain of vendors while building embedded hardware and firmware talent in India. We have already tested our prototypes on over 8 brands of eVs and they all work without a glitch.
