Maverick Fit Kids is a unique physical literacy curriculum for schools. Inspired by a new vision and innovative approach to education, we at Maverick have a special cross-curricular FITNESS & SPORTS program that works on grooming the multiple intelligence and cognition through movement in children using the Embodied learning methodology. Physical literacy is gaining recognition world over as an important need to be addressed in growing children. As part of the International Physical Literacy Association (IPLA) and the Physical Literacy India Movement (PLIM), we have curated an internationally acclaimed program that incorporates Indian ethos and values. Maverick physical literacy curriculum is compliant with CBSE Health & Physical Education requirements for classes 9 to 12. For classes 1 to 8, Maverick builds up on the larger goal as enumerated by CBSE “enabling the students to attain optimum state of health by incorporating physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being”. Evolutionary changes like inculcating a lifetime habit to be fit, is a slow and incremental process. Maverick Fit Kids helps children develop the habit of exercise and the responsibility to be fit, leading and managing the changing realities of today, for creating healthy lifestyles over the growing years. The curriculum introduces concepts and activities of physical literacy during the PE period, includes a few classroom videos lessons on the basics of healthy living and provides guidance using technology to monitor & motivate the kids on a daily basis. As perfection enhances skill but practice is needed to cultivate habits, the Maverick physical literacy curriculum is a consistency based approach rather than a competency based approach to inspire children to take responsibility to be active for life. In tune with the research findings that children learn a lot more from experiential learning than a seated classroom environment, the Maverick Fit Kids program is intelligently designed to incorporate various cognitive skills as students learn.
