HDPE fully bonded membranes work on the principle of wet bonding. The adhesive layer is activated when wet concrete is poured onto the membrane. The membrane has a sound anti-puncture performance and is adaptable to settlement and distortion. It is an eco-friendly material and is resistant to UV, weather conditions, acid and alkali. The above features allow the product to be used in subways, basements, tunnels, caves and other underground public structures. HDPE membranes are the only membranes qualifying the technical requirement of “fully bonded waterproofing membranes” as per ASTM, BS and BIS as only HDPE membranes can get bonded to the structure after pouring of the concrete. They are made up of three layers 1) HDPE sheet 2) Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (HMA) 3) Sand Unlike other fabricated membranes which are used for substructure waterproofing, HDPE membranes get bonded to the raft/grade slab on account of the Pressure Sensitive Adhesive coated on top of it. Due to this property of bonding, HDPE membranes prevent the lateral migration of water and ensures complete waterproofing even in case of subsoil/PCC Settlements. The sheet is protected with sand to protect the adhesive from UV impacts and other damages during construction. Each of the above layers plays a crucial role in waterproofing
