Patients delay specialist visits because consultation fee is a "Cash-Friction" point , so they rely on informal practitioners (quacks/Rural doctors). This results in delayed diagnosis, clinical risks, and a 'High-Interest Health Debt’. Traditional health insurance typically covers only inpatient hospitalization (IPD). As a result, everyday primary care—regular specialist consultations, routine pharmacy expenses, and diagnostic lab investigations—must be paid entirely out-of-pocket.2. The traditional healthcare delivery model in India is severely constrained by an unorganized, highly predatory referral system. Private hospitals face inflated patient acquisition costs paid to unorganized middlemen , which ultimately bloats the out-of-pocket cost of care for the family, particulary in underprevileged communities.
