Principia Mathematica India Private Limited is launching "Mathnasium" branded mathematics learning centers in India. Mathnasium is a specialized after-school mathematics learning center concept that serves children in classes 1 through 10. Students attend a physical learning center 2 to 3 times a week for about 7 to 8 months during a year. Each session is for an hour, and student/instructor ratios vary between 3 and 4 (one instructor rotates among 3 to 4 students at a time but provides one-to-one attention/instruction to each student). Mathnasium personalizes learning for each student, and the personalization is driven by its proprietary algorithms software that runs on the back-end. Each student undergoes assessments from which personalized learning plans for that student are developed periodically to fill skill gaps and develop number sense. The learning is then delivered on a face-to-face one-to-one model by instructors through a combination of techniques to suit different learning styles – written, mental, verbal, visual, and tactile. The above combination of the use of algorithms to personalize learning for each student and face-to-face one-on-one teaching by instructors in physical centers is one of the key differentiators from general brick-and-mortar tutoring centers or pure online learning apps. Principia Mathematica India Private Limited plans to open several Mathnasium learning centers across India and believes that these centers will not only benefit the children but also will create employment opportunities for many individuals, who will take on the role of instructors, lead instructors, center directors, teacher trainers, and other administrative positions.
