QuenchX Private Limited: Circular Economy Initiative on PET Bottle Recycling Project Vision: At QuenchX Private Limited, we are committed to sustainability and innovation. In alignment with India’s environmental goals and global trends toward sustainable packaging, we are initiating a closed-loop PET bottle recycling system under the circular economy model. Our objective is to recycle used PET bottles back into food-grade PET bottles, significantly reducing environmental impact and conserving resources. Project Overview: India generates thousands of tonnes of plastic waste annually, with PET bottles forming a significant share. While PET is technically recyclable, a very small fraction is currently recycled back to food-grade quality. Our project will address this gap by setting up a state-of-the-art PET recycling facility capable of processing post-consumer PET bottles into rPET (Recycled PET) suitable for food and beverage packaging. Key Objectives: Recycle Used PET Bottles to Food-Grade Standards: Employ advanced decontamination and purification technology to ensure the recycled PET meets FDA and FSSAI standards for food contact. Promote Circular Economy Practices: Establish a closed-loop system where PET bottles are continuously recycled into new bottles, reducing dependency on virgin plastic. Reduce Energy Consumption & Carbon Footprint: Recycled PET consumes up to 60% less energy compared to virgin PET resin production. Minimize Plastic Waste Pollution: Create a scalable model that supports responsible disposal and recycling, reducing landfill and marine plastic waste. Technology & Innovation: While food-grade PET recycling is still emerging in India, we aim to adopt global best practices and proven international technologies such as: Vacuum-assisted solid-state polycondensation (SSP) Advanced washing & decontamination systems High-barrier filtration and quality control mechanisms
