RAPHA EDUCATION PVT. LTD. – A STARTUP WORKING TOWARDS INTRODUCING INNOVATION IN EDUCATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE Rapha Education Pvt. Ltd., established in the year 2015, is a unique Startup model working towards changing the way education and educational infrastructure is looked at in India. This unique way of creating Education infrastructure would not only help ensure high quality in education, but also is highly scalable. This would lead to value based employment generation and service related wealth creation. Rapha Education Pvt. Ltd, as a Startup, was created with an intention of creating an innovative process that would help encourage investment from both India and abroad towards advancement in education and education related infrastructure while at the same time being transparent. This business model radically re-looks at how businesses could operate in the education sector, thereby creating huge value proposition, without compromising the service-oriented principles of management of educational institution by Public Charitable Entities. A reasonable return on investment would be balanced and matched with the higher goals of providing excellent infrastructure that would foster purpose, integrity and excellence in the minds of young children in their formative years. As an innovative business model, this would bring the following advantages to the education sector in India: 1. Investments in Educational Infrastructure becomes possible through this financing model which may difficult in a Public Charitable Trusts / Society / Section 8 Companies model as investors are attracted to a value-based model that would provide a reasonable return on investment without comprising on excellence in education. Most importantly, this model has the potential to bring in FDI in Education which has been demonstrated by Rapha Education Pvt. Ltd. Needless to say, this would also require partnering with the right minded Trust or group or people who would not compromise on excellence in educational content, methodology and help to foster international levels in education. 2. Thus, it can also be seen that this model retains the requirement of educational institutions being managed by Public Charitable Trusts / Society / Section 8 Companies as it involves only creation of educational infrastructure and leasing them out to an entity that would serve the higher cause of educational excellence. This also facilitate distinguished academics and others committed to the cause of education to create, develop and manage innovative concepts in Education without having the burden of raising the finances for infrastructure. 3. Since the companies pay all necessary taxes, scalability and revenue generation can be done without depriving the Government of the taxation requirement. This is possible only in the current model as business enterprise meets the demands of good educational infrastructure which in turn feeds movement to international educational standards. 4. This model is highly scalable, as it is much easier to bring investments into creating built up educational infrastructure in Education. The scalability of this business model has high potential in the generation of employment and wealth creation. Schools with a penchant for excellence are known to generate big employment for the local community. Also, Wealth generation including attraction of FDI is only possible with this model. Rapha Education Pvt. Ltd – The story so far Rapha Education Pvt. Ltd has shown tremendous potential in introducing an innovative business model, within four years of its inception. Few of the success points of this business model are as stated below: 1. The business model of the Company attracted Foreign Direct Investment to the tune of Rs. 10 Crore 2. The business model of the Company also attracted Investment from Indian investors 3. The company has created high quality infrastructure for its first school, Christwood School, which in a short span of three years has become a very successful school generating huge employment. 4. The Company has also succeeded in making available this educational infrastructure in a sustainable form to a Trust comprising of individuals who do not want to compromise the march to international educational excellence that the world needs. Hence, on the one hand, it attracts private sector investment; works towards provision of international standard educational infrastructure and then partners with likeminded academicians who are provided with the right ambience and eco-system – all this without losing sight of the overall goal to secure adequate return on investment that would provide the investors satisfaction that the higher goals of sustainability is achieved even while serving society.
