As parents grow older, it is often extremely challenging to manage caring for them. Especially when most don’t want to leave the homes they’ve built over the years, or the way of life they are used to. Distance and time constraints leave us feeling stressed out and fearful for their wellbeing. We founded Sakhi4Life to plug this anxious gap by offering support, care and companionship for ageing parents. We, the founders, are all women who have experienced the joys and travails of having to care for the elders in our families. We personally know people who have sacrificed thriving careers to devote their time to seniors in the family who needed round the clock attention. Even they need some time off, some time to call their own. On the other end of the spectrum, we have perfectly fit senior citizens who only suffer from one thing: loneliness. Sakhi4Life was conceived with the idea of offering support to both ends of the spectrum, and everything in between, in a professional, yet humane manner. Most people assume that the main problem faced by the elderly is medical in nature. But there’s a deadlier disease called loneliness, one that kills slowly and painfully. Sakhi4Life offers a solution to bridge this gap through their companionship program. Our Sakhi Counsellors are trained to be the perfect support system for seniors living alone, managing daily chores, payments, legal, medical, technical, financial or government requirements and dealing with staff on their behalf. It could be as small as ordering a meal on Swiggy or a car on Uber to fall-proofing their house to managing their property or arranging a celebration with their friends or relatives. We match every senior with a Sakhi Counsellor according to their personality, skillset and language. Sakhi4life has been able to fill in the gap in caring for parents when children and family members are not around.
