SPEAKENG is a video-based spoken English course for ages 13+ It covers 9 core functions of speaking based on the CEFR [Common European Framework of Reference] and the 9 core functions are further broken down to 50 micro-functions. These functions are demonstrated using model videos where the instructor provides a demo of a micro-function of speaking like describing. Learners can watch and practice the functions innumerable times and then shoot a video of themselves demonstrating the function. This learner video will be uploaded on a LMS and will be graded using AI based speech to text conversion tools like Amazon Transcribe Service. Assessment will cover 4 parameters: Fluency, Coherence, Grammatical Accuracy and Vocabulary. This video course will help learners become effective communicators in English by making them aware of the functions of speaking after watching the model videos and by uploading their own videos after practicing the function, they get both feedback on their performance as well as a personal video portfolio for life. This portfolio can be accessed whenever the learner wants to check the progress he/she has made in a particular function of speaking. This video portfolio will culminate in a video resume which corporates can access for recruitment purposes as well.The learner will also be assigned Language Buddies with whom he/she can have a real life conversation at periodic intervals. This will help them improve their confidence while speaking after having practiced a particular function. The errors they make while speaking will be recorded and rectified unlike in a classroom situation where a teacher has to manage a class of 40 students and errors go unnoticed and lead to fossilization.
