Improvement: TARGET plus, incubated at IIM Lucknow (Noida Campus), focuses on high-stakes examinations, to help students reduce stress and gain both confidence and marks in the shortest possible time. The approach is non-conventional; instead of focus on average marks that simply classify, the solution identifies and help every student improve on those portions not yet mastered, and on learning where it truly matters. TARGET plus takes a research based approach and mainstreams the principle of ‘Compete with Yourself!’ What is also different about TARGET plus is reports for the teacher and management. Innovation: Not only assessment ‘of’ learning, TARGET plus is an assessment ‘for’ and ‘as’ learning. Students save time by understanding their specific needs for an examination. Evidence of improvement is built in every assessment, and the gain in marks is documented. Students can see the path to their own better performance and feel encouraged by the progress they make with each unit of effort. All students benefit, not just some. Improvement is measured for students, a class and the school. Scalability: TARGET plus uses technology in creative ways, with focus on use of a mobile progressive app. This highly scalable model allows students to practice and improve anywhere, anytime. Reports inform a teacher instantly on class needs in three-colour bands and strategies. Started initially for Grades X and XII for CBSE and ICSE Boards that have some 2 crore students combined, TARGET plus will take up State Boards, lower grades and competitive examinations.
