Zedbee Technologies Private Limited is a deep-technology company incorporated in 2015 and incubated at IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai. It was founded with a single, focused mission: to sharply reduce the energy consumed by air-conditioning and other heavy building systems, without compromising — and in fact improving — occupant comfort. Over the past decade Zedbee has grown into an approximately 60-person organisation with an in-house team spanning embedded systems, hardware, power electronics, mechanical engineering, cloud and full-stack software, DevOps, data science and energy-domain expertise, supported by a field-operations team that deploys and continuously operates these systems across the country. Uniquely, Zedbee designs its own sensors, field devices, controllers and gateways, and builds its own cloud platform, control algorithms, web application and mobile apps — the complete hardware-to-software stack required to intelligently manage a large centralised HVAC system and the wider building. HVAC accounts for only 50–60% of a building's load; Zedbee's IoT platform also connects and manages pumps, elevators, transformers, DG sets, fire-fighting systems and, critically, energy meters, applying AI-driven algorithms to reduce consumption, balance grid load and source energy at optimal cost. Today the platform is deployed across 70+ commercial buildings in India — the first pilot at the ~200,000 sq. ft. IIT Madras Research Park, and among the largest at an ~800,000 sq. ft. HCL campus — serving marquee customers including HCL, Cognizant, Amazon, Ford, Google, TCS, Trident Hotels, Olympia Tech Park and Nexus Malls, and hosting over 100 million data points on its cloud. Metered, client-validated results include 39% electrical and 21% thermal savings at HCL's ELCOT Sholinganallur campus, ~50% thermal reduction at a Trident Hotel deployment, and 56% electrical savings with a 1.2-year payback at a Chennai IT/ITES facility.
