Deloitte estimates that the share of wallet for an average Indian household will continue to remain in the thirties – touching 35.4% by 2025. This means, an average Indian spends 1/3rd of his/her earnings on food. Moreover, according to Euromonitor, the Indian Foodservices market in 2021 is value at US$ 44 billion. It seems, that by the end of 2022, the valuation will surpass the pre-pandemic valuation of US$ 58billion. Secondly, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the preference to stay indoors has accelerated the adoption of consuming outside food at home. This has helped make restaurant / hotel -food acceptable outside special occasions, even in the smaller towns. Also, India’s urbanization is likely to touch 37% by 2025, resulting in more number of people staying in urban clusters, away from their parental homes looking for tasty food with higher purchasing power in their wallets.
