University of Hyderabad, as part of its endeavour to promote academy-industry interactions and drive innovation and entrepreneurship activities on the campus, has set up a separate unit called Research, innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship-unit (RITE). RITE at UoH has created a new Section 8 Company (not-for-profit) “Association for Scientific Pursuits for Innovative Research Enterprises” (ASPIRE) to foster the incubation and entrepreneurship activities. Currently UoH has three incubation centres Viz; A. Technology business Incubator (TBI) sponsored by NSTDEB, DST, Govt of India B. Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurship (TIDE) sponsored by DEITy, Govt of India. C. BioNEST sponsored by BIRAC, Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India. The major aim of the incubation centres under ASPIRE is to promote innovation-based start-ups and to develop certain local economic development goals in their region by stressing on a knowledge driven economy where risk taking is encouraged. The incubation centres under ASPIRE facilitates and conduct informational services to promote self-employment for students, researchers, scientists by utilizing Science and technology infrastructure. ASPIRE provides all the S&T and informational facilities to entrepreneurs at a minimal charge, and the revenues generated through its operation will be utilised for ASPIRE maintenance and operations. Also, ASPIRE provides seed fund to the student innovators to develop new technologies and creation of new enterprises.
