AmyScan Healthcare Pvt Ltd aims to develop diagnostic tests for various illnesses by detecting and amplifying ultra-low concentrations of specific amyloid seeds in circulation or secretion. The startup looks forward to launching the 1st blood test for Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s disease (PD) is mainly diagnosed based on clinical symptoms such as slowness of movement, bradykinesia and freezing of Gaits. Many imaging technologies such as PET, MRI, and DAT scans assist in detecting PD and overruling the causes of other illnesses. Interestingly, PD is clinically confirmed still today by the administration of levodopa drugs and subsequent symptomatic relief by the patients. Due to these reasons, worldwide efforts are being made to develop PD diagnosis based on body fluids such as CSF, blood serum, plasma, etc. Amyscan is working with patented technology developed at IIT Bombay for blood-based diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Further, the startup aims for early PD detection using this technology, which may represent a paradigm shift in PD care, offering the potential to intervene at a stage where treatment interventions may be most effective in slowing disease progression. In the future, startup aims to develop blood tests for other human disorders, such as Alzheimer's and cancer, based on ultra-low concentrations of amyloids in body fluids.
