India is a land of many healthy and nutritious food items. However ironically, we are one of the populations suffering from variety of non-communicable diseases. According to a report published in August, 2024 around 10 cr+ Indians are now suffering from diabetes. NFHS-5 (2019-21) survey shows that 25% men and 57% women (age bracket 15-49) are suffering from anemia. We at Crop Pure Private Limited believe that a part of these sufferings can be easily mitigated if people change their dietary habits only a little bit. And the good news is that changing the type of food not necessarily means the change in taste or appearance of food. For example replacing the white rice with “Kalanamak Rice” not only reduces the glycemic load the “thali” but also is pleasing to the taste buds. Replacing white, refined sugar with dried stevia leaves makes tea/coffee sweet for diabetes patients. (Stevia extract can be used to make healthy “mithai” also). The question we are trying to solve is that if the benefits of such products are so obvious then why the general populace is not using these healthy alternatives. We have identified four reasons for this irony: 1. Lack of knowledge 2. Cost competitiveness 3. Availability 4. Similarity to existing consumption pattern The ultimate goal of the company is to identify such healthy crops resolve the roadblocks and build up a brand on which people could rely for better health and eating habits.
