DoubleHelix Enterprises LLP was incorporated on 08 March 2019. The partners of the LLP, Dr. Vinay Agrawal and Dr. Bhaskar Ray Chaudhuri, setup DoubleHelix Enterprises with vision of creating and innovating medical technology so that devices are available to Indian consumers at an affordable cost. The motto is to create and innovate to miniaturize, simplify and enhance medical technology. Although the focus of the LLP is eye care technology it has plans to innovate in the entire medical technology space. DoubleHelix Enterprises has already developed and copyrighted two software – Digital Vascular Imaging (DVI) and Ocular Anterior Segment Measurement (Planiware). DVI allows vascular tree extraction from high quality images of the anterior part of the eye (conjunctival vasculature) and posterior part of the eye (optic nerve) without use of any injections or dyes. It is based on Haemoglobin absorption spectrum analysis from images and videos. Planiware can measure capsulorrhexis size and intraocular lens (IOL) centration in the capsular bag, besides many other metrics important in assessing outcomes after cataract surgeries. The flagship program of DoubleHelix is a dry eye diagnostic device that is developed and at the point of patenting. This device miniaturizes and economizes current technology in the dry eye diagnostics space while providing unique and enhanced metrics. This device has the potential for disrupting the existing market for such devices. All these are summarized in the LLP’s website 2hx.in Future areas of work of the LLP are optic nerve head (ONH) perfusion measurement using imaging techniques and DVI (see above), Raman Spectroscopy of the conjunctiva for detection of micro molecules of importance to ocular surface inflammation, ocular surface fluorescence for detection and quantification of goblet cells etc.
