We are proud to introduce Vastukul - an innovative platform and first of its kind; for architecture, design, and planning education, targeted at students in developing nations. Started as a collaboration of young practitioners from all over the world, Vastukul now aims to facilitate learning, teaching, and sharing of knowledge in an innovative, interactive, and practical way for our larger global community. Students facing resource constraints from India and around the world can now access cutting edge resources and developments within the three fields that they previously couldn’t. Vastukul especially and craftily curates content while keeping our global community in mind. Our motivations are further reinforced by the fact that the knowledge of indigenous and innovative architectural and design techniques and strategies being practiced in the developing nations have potential to be scaled up and translated locally in other parts of the world. We derive our philosophy from the Gurukul way of education practiced in ancient India that focused on enhancing skills and exploring one's mind through innovative experiments. The word Gurukul is also made of two words, Guru and Kul. Vastukul is derived from two words ‘Vastu’ meaning architecture and ‘Kul’ means a sacred place of belonging. PURPOSE To provide education that is uplifting and holistic education by bridging the gap between learners and the leaders.
