Our project is about adding ‘life’ to the years of our patients.Disfigurements of the Head & Neck region due to birth defects and cancer surgery cause functional morbidity leading to dramatic alteration of basic functions like eating, speaking, swallowing and social interactions.People tend to accept this condition with a fatalistic attitude & suffer for life.We would like to leverage Technology to ensure Prosthetic Reconstruction of the face keeping Affordability & Accessibility as corner stones, thereby not only ensuring success in the fight over the disease, but also enhancing their quality & dignity of life. This can be effected with appropriate artificial substitutes or prostheses eg- artificial jaw, ear, eye, nose etc. which restore the lost functions and ensure an optimal quality of life post primary care. Geographic distances can sometimes be a major hurdle to access care. A combination of Digital Scanning, CAD and 3D Printing along with a Hub and Spoke Model of healthcare delivery can ensure remote healthcare delivery to geographic areas where accessibility to such treatments is difficult. Technology can ensure that both turnaround time and contact time between the doctor and patient can be reduced. This reduces both direct and indirect costs of treatment making care both affordable and accessible.
