Historically, several financial institutions and training institutions are providing either loan support or training support separately without combining the two supports. As a result, the trained motivated entrepreneur when actually planning for a new venture difficult to find funding opportunities. Similarly, when a person could able to get funding or loan support, lack of technical, professional and marketing support preventing the new entrepreneurs to run small businesses in a sustainable way. Ultimately, the prime objectives of the training organization, financial institution, and the desire of the new entrepreneur failed due to combined support services are not made available to the entrepreneurs coming forward to start the business. GREAT will support new entrepreneurs not only by providing training and expertise for starting small businesses but also help the entrepreneurs to get loan support from likeminded organizations such as from banks, financial intermediaries, and micro-finance institutions. In addition to this GREAT will support the entrepreneurs to market their products and services by linking with Government, local, national, and international trade organizations. Further GREAT affirm that supporting the entrepreneurs among the local communities will create a widespread impact on the local economy. GREAT – Gramalaya Entrepreneurs Associates, Tiruchirappalli Private Limited is an outcome of long deliberations with the community members especially women self-help groups and women group federations. GREAT is aimed at creating an enabling environment for promoting sustainable income generation activities among the poor and marginalized communities by a combination of training, financial support, and other market-related services. By providing capacity building such as entrepreneur development program and skills training with support of recognized training institutions and Government departments, GREAT will ensure uplifting of the lives of poor and low-income families. GREAT is committed to provide its customer/clients support for training and capacity building, product designs and development, and market opportunities for selling their products and for-profit earning. The ultimate goal of GREAT is to support the communities to eradicate poverty and achieve economic empowerment so that they will not depend on continuous external loan support. GREAT will facilitate the entrepreneurs for designing sustainable business plans by providing expertise and handholding capacity. GREAT strongly believes that “When women are supported, motivated and empowered the entire family members and society at large will be benefited” by supporting women through entrepreneurship development to improve their economic status.
