1. About us MWSE is a registered, for-profit start-up company based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. Our objective is to find innovative solutions to social challenges that are self-sustaining financially and subject to market forces. The two individuals who founded the company have extensive experience of working with both the "not-for-profit" and "for-profit" sectors. The founders are convinced that many social challenges affecting the lives of millions of low-income people can be successfully addressed by drawing on the best practices of these two diverse sectors. 2. Registration/ Partnership • MWSE is recognized as Startup by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India with certificate number DIPP 20896 • MWSE is registered under Ministry of Micro Small Medium enterprise, Govt. of India and the Udyog Aadhaar no is MP23A0020006. • MWSE is registered under Madhya Pradesh Start-up Promotion Scheme, Govt of Madhya Pradesh, Registration No.: MPSTUP_IND_2018-19_0065. • Partnership with "Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute (CSIR-AMPRI), Bhopal, MP and a formal agreement on the transfer of technology was signed with the Institute on 1st Jan 2018. • Partnership with Arizona State University, USA & CSIR-AMPRI for future collaborating for research related to nano-adsorbent for treating fluoride and arsenic in water. 3.Problem We Are Addressing: In India, 60 million and 10 million people are affected by fluoride and arsenic poisoning in drinking water respectively. The rural people are forced to drink the poisoned water as most of the time they don’t have any alternative. Exposure to excessive amounts of fluoride can cause illness. All these illness, expenses for treatment, loss of daily income result in the low socio-economic status of the community. This indirectly results in the burden on Government resources which could be channelized for other developmental issues. The solution to all these problems is to provide safe drinking water to this rural population. 4.Our Solutions Our approach is to use strengths of the "for-profit sector" and “not for profit sector” to provide a sustainable solution for the supply of clean drinking water. The solution is to provide end to end solution which includes low cost, simple to operate domestic water filter based on latest nano-adsorbent technology and its regular operation & maintenance at the doorstep with the support of Information, communication and technology. If required the filter would be provided at the community level or at institutional level i.e. for schools etc. The uniqueness of our entrepreneurial initiative are as follows: • Simple to use and no need for electricity . Low-cost filtration based on nanotechnology • Regular O&M at the doorstep of the villagers by trained grassroots worker • The whole system is monitored by central Information, communication and technology which includes geotagging of customer etc • Use of green technology to ensure that nothing is wasted in the whole cycle from production to O&M. • Additional income and employment to rural youths The provision of safe drinking water would save the health expenses, increase the community productivity and help in improving the socio-economic condition of the people in long run. 5. About Founders Mankaj Kumar Singh (Founder): Mankaj is an IIM Ahmadabad Alumni, having more than 16 years of passionate experience in social sector. He was a participant of the international student exchange program at Carnegie Mellon University, USA through IIM-A. During his illustrious professional experience, he has worked for Government, Corporate and nonprofit sectors mainly on water and sanitation. He commands an excellent reputation and respect in the sector and has been a distinguished invite to many platforms, including press/social media, to share his passion, experience & achievements in the social sector (ex as a panel member in the TV show, All India radio, guest speaker etc). Waseem Iqbal (Cofounder): Waseem has done a post-graduate degree in social science (MSW) and is a Lead Fellow having + 12 years of experience in development sector especially in providing a market-driven solution for different issues. He has worked for urban local bodies (ULBs), Corporate and nonprofit sectors. He is also the founder of AAS, a not for profit organization working on women and children issues in Madhya Pradesh. AAS has been awarded the best NGO in Indore in the year 2013 and 2017 and assisted in rescue and rehabilitated of more than 800 children.He also facilitated the development of module for addressing child sexual abuse named “SurakshitBachpan” which has been inaugurated by Women and Child Development Minister of Madhya Pradesh and is being used by many not for profit organization and more than one lakh children has benefited from this module.
