An initiative where we PLEDGE to revive faith in worshiping water as the "Mother", as the "Janani" and disallow any form of corruption of our water streams at the hands of all the chemicals that go into products and find their way into water streams today. Water mixed with chemical products, like soaps and shampoos, cannot be used again without the use of extensive energy. Energy which is required to run the sewage treatment plants (approximately 76% of wastewater is discharged in river, untreated) Also, 80% of water used becomes waste. But planning for waste treatment is impossible, as no one knows how much water is consumed. (Source: CSE: Do-it-yourself, Recycle and Reuse wastewater.) What would be possible! Water from basins and bathing area used directly for irrigation such that excess water is let to sink in (to increase ground water level) Long term benefits – - Increased demand for trees for raw material - Reduction in number of factories producing chemical products - Reduction in sewage generation & therefore increase in efficiency of sewage treatment plants This would result in reduction of air and water pollution (caused by factories and sewage treatment plants) Paakshaantata Concept
