The goal of this project is to provide homeowners with a better idea of how much money they should expect to spend on putting solar panels on their roofs, as well as a list of the recommended components that are required for efficient installation. With the help of our platform, consumers can do the cost benefit analysis of getting a solar panel system installed at their homes or offices. On the first screen, users have to enter their location. In the next screen, users have to select the number of panels depending on the capacity of the system required and the area of the rooftop available for installing the solar panels. The amount of sunlight that a solar panel system receives each day will depend on factors such as location, time of year, and weather conditions. In order to estimate this, we use a tool called a "solar irradiance map," which provides information about the average amount of sunlight that a particular area receives throughout the year. The location entered by the user gets converted into latitude and longitude in the backend, and then these coordinates tell about the average amount of sunlight that falls on the rooftop at that location. We also provide the option to enter the roof pitch, which also changes the production of the solar panels. In case there is any reduction due to shade, it can also be varied on our platform. Once the yearly production of the solar panel system has been calculated, the next step is to calculate the consumption parameters. If the users know their yearly electricity consumption in KWh, they can manually enter that. Otherwise, we have also provided an option to estimate the consumption based on the consumption profile and number of people living in the building and this predefined consumption data is used for further analysis. Our platform allows the users to analyze the financial benefits of installing the rooftop solar system like return on investment in buying or financing. In the next step the components to be installed are suggested by our platform. The users can also select the components from the list of components provided. In the next steps the user is required to upload the images of the rooftop and the energy meter. Our platform then provides a list of local installers available near their location.
