Establishing smart & intelligent material coatings is the need of the hour for biomedical devices. With increasing number of clinical surgeries involving medical tools spanning from simple medical procedures to minimally invasive surgeries & robotic surgeries, medical devices are at the core of any operative medical treatment. The device manufacturers often face a continuous challenge of addressing the new material requirements raised by the clinicians or by medical procedures. It is imperative that the surgical tools & instruments exhibit biocompatibility and anti-allergic properties, while the prosthetic implants should additionally demonstrate functionalities like osseo-integration & desired material strength. However, allergies, infections and revision surgeries are encountered despite special care taken toward averting such problems. Multiple factors, ranging from choice of material for tools/implants to hygiene, are responsible for the occurred problems. Therefore, the medical devices including surgical instruments & prosthetic implants (made of metal alloys, ceramics, polymers) frequently need surface or core treatments to attain a certain functionality or prevent its corrosion & rusting. We, at Wissenkraft Labs Pvt. Ltd., plan to develop & offer novel coating solutions that will address these challenges.
