Kalyani Aquaculture Organics is the pioneer of Integrated Mangrove Aquaculture (Silviculture) in India following not only the requirements of the National Programme of Organic Production (NPOP) but also the Organic Aquaculture Production Rules of the European Union. The entire value chain of Black Tiger shrimp - farmers, processors, and hatchery - is in the process of certification currently. Kalyani Aquaculture Organics plans to export the first organic shrimp containers end of the year. Two EU customers have ordered first containers. Organic shrimp farming enriched by integration of Mangroves is well-integrated in the traditional land use system in West Bengal, offers farmers a low-risk and export-oriented business, and makes the source of income more climate resilient.
