Unallume is a commitment to the millions of artisans in India. To help them live a dignified and better quality of life. The word Unallume is derived from the spiritual concept ‘unalome,’ meaning a journey that reflects each person's life path. I strongly advocate slow, sustainable, and ethical homemade fashion. My journey with sustainable fashion began a few years back when I got an opportunity to work and interact with many artisans across India in several weaving units. Observing them so closely, I could understand and feel their everyday struggles. Rich in skill but unfortunately due to limited resources and assets, their younger generation instead of taking the skill forward, move on to other trades and cities for a more promising future. Placing the artisans and their families in a very precarious position. Most of the present artisans are old, and are working because of their passion and the heart connection they have towards the being craft… Which for them is to feel like ‘coming home.’ After all, home is where the heart is, and when it is about homemade products, it instantly transports us on an inward journey; making us reminisce those beautiful memories we hold closest to our hearts. Unallume is a call for all those who are proud of their passion and are deep-rooted in heritage. Our intent is to provide a platform where we stand tall and take pride in the immaculate craftsmanship skills of our artisans. Also, with handwoven clothes, we want to encourage sustainable living. The trust, love, dedication, and passion of these millions of artisans are the seeds of Unallume. It is the vision to provide them with a better life which will not only give a newer meaning of life to them but will also motivate their younger generations to carry on the tradition. We hope with our collective effort, we are able to bring a change in their lives, and for the conscious consumers consuming these artisan products, we delight them by decoding our rich heritage.
