Ubuntu Community - The Vegan Café is Kolkata's first eco-friendly vegan café started by two Environmentalists Abhinav Bajpai @abhinavegan and Vikash Bihani @vegan_antinatalist in 2019, and later joined by Shreya Saha and Richie Sharma. The café is themed around sustainability and cruelty-free lifestyle. Ubuntu is the core principle of the café which is an African Zulu word and translates to "I am because We are". It serves 100% plant-based food with large varieties such as Bengali, North Indian, Chinese, Italian, Mediterranean and hence has one of the largest vegan spreads in India. Highlights of the menu are Fysh Fry, Kosha Manggsho (Bengali meat Curry), Butter Chycken, Sahi Vada, Grilled Shrymps, Chycken Tikka Pizza, Cheesecake and many more. Don't get confused with names as they are all plant-based. Complete interior is made of upcycled furniture and decor. Our packaging is made of material such as bagasse (sugar cane waste) and single-used plastic-free. Our café focuses on creating awareness for a kinder lifestyle through food, conversation and events. It is situated opposite to popular South City Mall and welcomes true foodie by providing delicious food on their plate and also food for thoughts.
