The electrical, and electronic wastes are rapidly growing and becoming a pressing concern, while a huge part of it (over 80%) is managed in an unsustainable way or goes unrecycled. Also, roughly over a million waste collectors/workers in this sector are working in an unsafe environment, and unknowingly affecting the environment and human health by unsustainable recycling practices like burning in the open, dumping in landfills, etc. For e-waste ( or any waste), lack of public awareness, improper collection, unsafe sorting, and unsustainable channeling is the main problem for recycling. At least in big cities, there are initiatives and growing business ecosystems to overcome these challenges, but tier 2 and smaller cities, towns, and rural areas still lack a mechanism to handle this issue. We strive to provide solutions to this sustainability problem, through a cloud-based web app and involve the NGOs ( green groups, self-help, and women empowerment groups) in different towns and cater as a platform for waste generators to properly dispose of their e-waste. We responsibly collect, provide reverse logistics, refurbish/dismantle, sort, downsize, recycle, recover and/or channel the materials of electrical and electronic waste, from all sources like the bulk consumers (e.g. IT industry, manufacturers, institutions, government org, households, etc…). The web app will be a centralized place for the pick-up request and tracking, while the NGOs assist with the workforce (for marketing, pick-up, source sorting,...), local buffer storage space, and awareness creation (conducting events/collection drives). Our focus is mainly, but not limited to, the tier 2 and smaller cities. In addition, we are aiming to develop a mechanism for thorough traceability, EoL reporting, and if needed LCA based carbon (and other impact categories) footprint reporting to corporate and other clients for their sustainability metrics and track records.
