In their own words

The Covid 19 pandemic didn’t only take lives but affected livelihoods as well. A 2020 Reuters report exposed the alarming reality of the massive decrease in female employment. As per the report, the female labour participation rate fell to 16.1% in the July-September quarter. As per a World Bank analysis, India has one of the lowest female labour participation rates in the world with less than a third of the women employed or actively seeking jobs. An economy can’t flourish if women are not employed. So we at Tea-Talkers are committed to promoting employment and emancipation among women so that they can become contributing members of society. Slowly but surely we have been doing our bit to make women – particularly marginalized women find gainful employment. We have established a training centre at Maslandapur (Kolkata) where women from the marginalized sections of the society are trained to be caregivers and entrepreneurs in weaving and handloom. We also plan to emancipate marginalized women by providing a platform for their creative endeavours – like katha stitching, pottery making, etc. True to our motto – spreading positivity and fostering emancipation we have also committed ourselves to spread literacy and love for books among children from the depressed sections of society. According to a 2017 report by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization), more than 12 million children are not enrolled in schools. Compromising with children’s education means compromising with the future of the nation. We have been establishing micro-libraries in various areas. Our micro-library initiative has a twofold purpose - instill the fading love for books among the children and adolescents, and provide an informal means to gain education i.e – the ability to read to children who don’t have access to formal education due to financial constraints. We are also launching the first of it's kind Open Air Library and Meditation Centre in one of the villages in West Bengal. Above all, we are committed to being positivity evangelists. Since its inception, Tea-Talkers have always championed spreading positivity and wellbeing through intimate face-to-face interactions and motivational pep-talk.So we at Tea-talkers believe in positivity coaching through face-to-face interactions. Positivity is not a miracle but a mindset, which should be cultivated through reinforcement, through inspirational conversations. We have been arranging informal discussions centred on positivity and wellbeing at several cafes since 2018. The objective of these discussions is 3 fold: 1. Inspire people and infuse them with positivity confidence and feel-good vibes. 2. Provide an opportunity for people to vent without getting judged. Today many of us have a lot to say, but almost no one will lend a patient and empathetic ear. Our sessions are a safe space where you can vent, let your pent-up feelings and opinions out. Just let it go! 3. Encourage direct, face-to-face interactions again. Living in a hyper digitalized world people have forgotten the joy of face-to-face interactions, the simple but tranquil joys of sharing gossip, trivia with friends over an adda. Aside from positivity coaching, we have also been on a mission to revive the almost forgotten pottery culture of India. Once a flourishing hub of pottery, India has gradually discarded its magnificent pottery traditions. The handmade pottery which had the individual flair, the craftsmanship of the artisan have now been replaced by industry-manufactured pottery – most of which are indistinguishable from each other. Unable to compete with atomization the artisans of India, once revered for their ‘karigari’ ( skill), have now fallen into disfavour. So we have come up with an initiative ‘Mitti’ which is dedicated to showcasing the talent of our local master craftsmen and helping them get a steady livelihood and their due appreciation as artists. ‘Mitti’ offers a wide array of clay pottery and handicrafts – all 100% organic –made from natural clay and each crafted and designed with great delicacy and finesse by our artisans. From plain matkas to ornamental wall-hangings, quaint-looking coffee cups, and sophisticated wine glasses, there is something for everybody in our collection.

The neighbourhood

This record carries no locality line, so the district is the finest ring we can place it in.

What we do not know

We have no liveness signal for any company on this site: no filings feed, no revenue, no check that the website still resolves. A record existing here means a record exists, not that a business is trading.

Is this your company?

Everything here comes from public government records. If something is wrong, the authoritative place to correct it is the Startup India portal itself, and we will pick the correction up on the next monthly snapshot.
